Join Couch Soup contributors Lily K, Thomas Richards and Iain McParland for Watching Now: Arcane, discussing Season 2 Act 2’s ups and downs. A few months have gone by after Caitlyn and Ambessa declared martial law. The team discusses highlights from the middle episodes of Season 2 where Caitlyn has regrets about becoming a dictator, there’s a reunion for Jinx, Vi, and a surprising third family member, and Victor continues to be Shimmer Jesus. Can Zaun find its way out from the bottom of Piltover’s boot? And, will we ever stop crying after THAT ending? No.
No we will not.

Here are some extras that didn’t make the list before the TBOBF finale, but they are a MUST WATCH along with this list:
– Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969)
– Once Upon A Time In The West (1968)
The similarites to these scenes from Mano and Fett are crazy. The Book of Boba even feels more like a western than The Mandalorian. Almost too much for me. I like the nods The Mandalorian does but the settings change more often. The desert/dirt/rocky Tatoonie setting just feels like overboard western motif.
Seriously though great article! The reserach here is top notch.
Thanks! Yeah, I admit that there were a few times where I felt like the intent to evoke the Western tropes was edging on making it campy.
On a similar note, I probably should have added a note in my article that most of these films bring the gritty edge that some people felt was missing in TBOBF (I heard a couple of people calling it “too Disney”). Maybe Disney+/Lucasfilm is easing into that gritty edge a little at a time so we get used to it? Not sure, but it will be interesting to see what’s in the shows ahead! I’m definitely here for it!
