Wolverine Is Back! What We Know And What We Can Expect From The Upcoming Deadpool 3

hello world!

It happened. I still can’t believe it happened, but we will finally see Wolverine and Deadpool together, played by Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. It’s not a dream anymore, people! Ryan Reynolds has been brilliant as the merc with a mouth, and with two awesome films under his belt, he is looking to go big, like super big, for a third.

Hugh Jackman began playing Wolverine in the 2000s X-Men and has since become one of the most recognizable superhero characters of all time. Most notably, he led the 2017 masterpiece Logan, arguably the best superhero movie ever made.

“So, this is what it feels like?”

After Logan, Jackman decided to hang up the claws and retire the character, much to the chagrin of Ryan Reynolds, mentioned both in the Deadpool film series and in real life. Reynolds desperately wanted to work with Jackman and his Wolverine character, and that dream has finally been realized.

Announced in true Ryan Reynolds style, Reynolds posted a video all over social media claiming he had no idea what to do for a third Deadpool movie but that he had one idea that may work. He then asked Jackman, who walked across the frame behind him, if he would like to play Wolverine again. Jackman replied, “Yeah, Sure, Ryan,” and the internet promptly exploded.

“Hey Hugh, you wanna play Wolverine one more time?”

Shortly after, the pair posted a video explaining what they were thinking of doing, explicitly stating they would not be touching Logan and that it is a “totally separate thing.” They then hilariously described what would happen in the film while the sound was drowned out by WHAM!’s Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, hiding all the details.

So, with all that, what do we actually know about the upcoming superhero movie? Well, not much, actually. We do know that at least the timeline of the X-Men movies will not be touched. Logan will remain the canon for that story. With Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, the characters will appear in the MCU, and with the MCU venturing into multiverse territory, we could see alternate versions of these characters. Knowing Reynolds, they should be poking a ton of fun at this.

We know Deadpool is aware of Wolverine, albeit through fourth wall breaks, but that could make for interesting fun. Having access to the X-Men movie rights, Marvel could also choose to include a host of mutants. The MCU has started to reveal a few mutant characters already, and it could pave the way for them to join the MCU later. The return of other fan-favorite mutants is certainly in the cards as well.

The potential that these two have in joining the MCU is boundless. They could face off against the current superheroes in the MCU. Imagine a fight with the Hulk! Deadpool still has the time travel device from the end of the second film, so they could revisit some of the MCU’s most famous moments. Knowing Reynolds, regardless of what he is going to do, he is going to want to parody everything and everyone as he makes his entrance into the main Marvel universe.

The only things confirmed so far are that the film is in pre-production, will be released on the 6th of September 2024, Jackman and Reynolds will appear, and the film will be rated-R. We will keep an eye on this and share more details as soon as they arrive so watch this space!

It’s Official!

For now, we will have to wait, but it’s finally happening! Deadpool 3 is set to be an amazing experience, and we just can’t wait. What did you think of the announcement? Are you excited to see Wolverine again? What do you think they are going to do in the film? Sound off below and on our socials.

Until next t-….. *Hey folks, Deadpool here. Nick has gone bye-bye for now. Don’t worry about him. He’s just sleeping. He’s so sleepy. I’ll see you all very soon. So long little ones. Cue the music.*

I will always love Hugh
